Overview
Tarangire is where elephants gather in numbers you won’t see elsewhere in Tanzania โ herds of thirty, fifty, sometimes more, drawn to the Tarangire River, one of the only reliable water sources in the region through the long dry season. Ancient baobab trees, some centuries old, punctuate open grassland and acacia woodland, and the birdlife (over 550 recorded species) is exceptional. It’s often the first stop on a northern circuit route out of Arusha, and one of the best value game drives on the whole itinerary.
