Overview
Serengeti means “endless plains” in Maa, and the park earns the name. This is the stage for the Great Migration: over 1.5 million wildebeest and hundreds of thousands of zebra moving in a year-round circuit chasing the rains, with river crossings at the Mara in the north (JulyโSeptember) and calving on the short-grass plains near Ndutu in the south (JanuaryโMarch). Resident prides, leopards along the Seronera River and cheetah on the open plains make it a Big Five destination in any season.
