Overview
Mikumi is the most accessible of Tanzania’s southern circuit parks, sharing an ecosystem and wildlife profile with the Selous/Nyerere region but reachable by road in half a day from Dar es Salaam. The open Mkata floodplain, often compared to the Serengeti’s plains on a smaller scale, delivers reliable elephant, giraffe, zebra and buffalo sightings, with good predator activity along the woodland edges.
