Overview
Rongai is Kilimanjaro’s only route approaching from the north, near the Kenyan border, and sees noticeably fewer trekkers than the southern and western routes. Its gentler, more gradual gradient makes it a popular choice in the wetter shoulder months since the northern slopes stay drier, and it descends via Marangu, giving trekkers hut accommodation on the way down.
