Marangu is Kilimanjaro’s oldest route and the only one offering hut accommodation the entire way, rather than camping โ a genuine advantage for trekkers who prefer a roof and a real bed each night. It approaches from the southeast in a straight, direct line, which makes it the most time-efficient standard route, though its faster ascent profile means the altitude is felt more acutely than on longer routes.
